Lincoln

Aubrey stands in front of me in her curve-hugging navy blue dress, formally thanking me for having her over, but all I can think about is the fact that I very much don’t want her to walk out that door.. Her voice is so sweet, her lips so enticing, her eyes piercing. I can’t help myself any longer, even when she already told me she wants to leave.

Should I let my emotions take control, hold her in my arms, and draw her closer? Should I let her go and keep on depending merely on my rationality?

I have been doing that all my life, avoiding losing control of my feelings, but I’ve never met someone quite like Aubrey. And I want her in my life so badly it hurts.

Inhaling sharply, I grab her hand in mine, pulling her toward me. She gasps in surprise and stumbles forward, falling into my arms. Aubrey looks so beautiful from this close, her eyes opened wide. Before she even gets to speak, I press my lips against hers with a wild desire I can no longer control.

She kisses me back, melting sensually into my arms. I can’t help but remember what she told me about wanting a man to take charge, to show her that he wants her more than anything else in the entire world.

The kiss is searing hot, and she leans closer to me still, her large breasts pressed against my chest. I can almost feel her heartbeat drumming in tandem with my own.

I move a few steps back inside my loft, dragging Aubrey away from the elevator. The kiss grows more passionate as I part my lips and brush my tongue against her mouth. Our tongues meet and dance together as I caress her back with both hands, aching to undress her.

But my mind keeps asking questions I should just ignore. If I was more like her, I could lead with my feelings instead of my logic and stop overthinking everything so much. Instead, I keep asking myself if I should stop. If I’m going too fast. If I should have waited longer.

I slip away from the searing kiss that’s left me breathless and stare deep into those dark eyes. She’s so stunning, I can’t believe I actually have her in my arms at last.

“I—I can’t do this, Lincoln,” she mumbles.

Like an utter fool, I let go of her. I want to kiss her again and tell her to follow her own advice. Let your emotions do the speaking, not your mind. But instead, I take a step back and nod quietly.

She’s committing the same mistake that I’ve made a hundred times, I know it all too well. Aubrey’s burying her emotions deep down and trying to think about things rationally. Perhaps she’s the kind of bright person that can provide amazing advice but never follows it herself.

And worse still, I know exactly what’s happening but don’t dare to change things. I already kissed her, I already let my emotions get the best of me once, how can I do it again?

Perhaps this is for the best.
